This guy just came buy and is strutting his stuff for five hens.
I’m telling you these birds are the stupidest animals I have ever encountered yet they have a tenacious survival instinct. Interestingly these turkeys are an introduced species in Montana back in the 1950's. They are now common and are popular to hunt.

My yard is full of them during the months where there is no snow. They’re awful creatures I fucking hate them.

When I go walking, I strut my stuff and I’m so strung out

I have eaten birds from this flock. It doesn’t even faze them.

I might just stop to check you out

Damn it. I had that riff stuck in my head for over a month and I just got rid of it. I sort of hate you now.

The largest predator we have here is a racoon so turkeys are super abundant and actually considered a pest to the point where we have an extended hunting season to cull their numbers. Someone in my neighborhood keeps feeding the damn things and now there’s a permanent flock of almost 30 that just traipses around and causes trouble for us.

At that distance you can just shoot them in the head with a .22.

They are approaching that level of annoyance here too but our predators are numerous and good at their job. Mainly lions and coyotes. I can’t see a bear putting forth that amount of energy to chase one.

But there head never stops moving. I take a body shot with the bow. Or small gauge shot gun to the head.

Turkeys are everywhere here in Wisconsin, I was entertained the first few times I saw them since I didn’t grow up here, but they’re kind of a nuisance at this point. They’re also delicious when roasted in garlic herb butter.

Get better at shooting, lol. (I haven’t been turkey hunting in years)

I can hit a fly at fifty feet but their heads do not stop moving long enough to aim and fire.

We have tons of them in our yard too. It’s always hilarious to see the Toms strutting all over and the hens just TOTALY IGNORING THEM.

I don’t just mean that there’s not many predators, I mean we have no predators. It’s an island. The deer are bad too, they double the number of unchecked deer you’re allowed to have vs. the rest of the state.

Well you need to lobby the Island council to get some Canadian timber wolves introduced. They will do a good job of eating deer and turkey’s.

Yeah but then they’ll eat all the rich ladies’ rat-dogs and we can’t have that can we?
![]() 04/18/2017 at 23:12 |

No that would reduce the number of available rich ladies. Wolves generally hate on domestic dogs and will just attack and kill them out of spite.

it is amazing to see them take off. not graceful by any means, but unexpected
