On future vehicles to go in one garage.
On Saturday

made a post about
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
under $120,000 USD. The rules were one America car, one Japanese, and the last European. I knew the American one had to be a 1st gen Firebird. Specifically a 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 HO with a 4 speed, factory a/c, and in Verdoro Green.
Second would be a 1991 Land Rover Defender 110 pickup all overlanded out.Yes I would want it with the 3.5L V8 and LT85 5 speed until I could do a LBZ Duramax swap.
Last but not least would be a 1975 Mitsubishi Colt Galant GTO with the 5 speed and 4G52 I4
Well after commenting this garage I could not get it out of my head because at the end of the day I think this would be a perfect garage for me. I have my big V8 muscle car to blast down the drag strip and hang out with all my Pontiac buddies. Then I have a nice little canyon carver and import show car. Last but not least I have a truck that could tow the other two from hell and back and across the Sahara if need be.
“But CaptDale,” You say, “What about that $120k?”
Well you know that isn’t a lot of money really for 3 classics. The Firebirds are $30-40k in really clean spec, a Defender 110 $50k, and Colt Galant GTO $15k. All together that would be roughly $105,ooo with an additional $15,000 that could be used for registration, shipping, and any light work needed. Seriously if I were to have $120k to spend this is a very reasonable garage to have. And this would also be a garage I would be happy with for the rest of my life.
I guess it just suprised me how well that worked out. Now I want these... Come on Lotto!

You could fit more than 3 cars in there. See you are forgetting the pick up truck. The SUV is great but sometimes you need to haul stuff. I managed to plead my case, and be convincing enough to have it agreed that a SRT10 Ram would be good to have in a home to “carry and haul” stuff.

I would do an Olds 442, A Datsun 240z and a BMW 2002. I didn’t look at prices but I am assuming these would be under the 120K limit

I must say, as much as I like your choice in cars, I LOVE that garage!

I’m going with Deffo MR2, American MR2, and Rare European MR2 since Rally MR2 and Big MR2 cost too much now.

I could be wrong here... but that isn’t how garages work.
1 bay goes for house crap - Grill, mower, blower. etc.
2nd bay goes for tools and work benches.
3rd bay MIGHT possibly sometime in a far far away future date might fit a Smart car... if you move that box... and that one

With the big demand for affordable rental housing in Toronto, I’d be more inclined to take that money and turn that 3 car garage into one or two rental apartment units.
Then with the money generated, just rent different interesting cars.

Hello, that is a Defender 110 pickup mate
![]() 04/18/2017 at 14:57 |

I hate everything about that statement.

False, sounds like you didn’t make the trip to the attic and/or curb with all of you trash that need to be gotten rid of. Please evaluate your priorities
![]() 04/18/2017 at 14:59 |
|
Right though?! What a lucky bastard
![]() 04/18/2017 at 15:00 |

Should be. Nice choices.

Just because you’re right, doesn’t mean I’m wrong
![]() 04/18/2017 at 15:03 |

I didn’t say you were wrong. Just that your priorities are.

My garage has a motorcycle in it and tools and other big items that cant possibly go into the attic. My priorities are just fine. I just need bigger garage. Say 3 more bays. Maybe 2 story tall so I can put a lift in there. and second floor shenanigans area

I know it’s a Defender truck, but it has a cap over the bed. Basically making it an SUV. Since Utes aren’t legal yet or you’d have to build your own. Why not Viper Ram for quick home depot/lowes trips?
![]() 04/18/2017 at 16:07 |
|
Mine would have the cap removable.
![]() 04/18/2017 at 16:07 |
|
I like that idea
![]() 04/18/2017 at 16:15 |

Then you would to remove the cap prior to leaving, and put it back on. It would be easier to jump in Viper Ram, and pick up 2x4 or plywood. Plus you’d be there and back quicker than removing bed cap. :)

If you need a place to stay, I can rent out my
dungeon
basement apartment to you...
![]() 04/18/2017 at 16:34 |
|
Tempting.....
Really ideal cheap living would be a 2 bedroom apartment over a large two car garage.
![]() 04/18/2017 at 16:35 |
|
I DON’T WANT ONE!
Just let me be happy with my Defender! Plus the cap would be off unless I needed it. IE overlanding or camping trips where I’d want it.
![]() 04/18/2017 at 16:47 |
|
It’s even cheaper for just the garage.
![]() 04/18/2017 at 17:28 |
|
Than the basement?
![]() 04/18/2017 at 17:49 |
|
Come on Dale, you know you want something with a Viper engine in it. Put the Viper V10 in the Defender!
![]() 04/18/2017 at 18:01 |
|
Yup. But more expensive than the tent I’m renting out in the back yard.
![]() 04/18/2017 at 18:04 |
|
I don’t want to live there anymore
![]() 04/18/2017 at 18:05 |
|
No, Duramax swap in the Defender. I don’t care about the Viper motor
![]() 04/18/2017 at 18:06 |
|
It’s a nice big tent. And I include a bucket and a roll of toilet paper with the rental!
![]() 04/18/2017 at 18:09 |
|
If you’re gonna do that, you might as well insulate it, install a kitchenette, a bathroom and HVAC...
But then after you do that, you might as well rent it to a student or a retiree on a fixed income.

And as an added bonus, you can get one of those in-bed campers for it:
... you can use it for vacations. Or use it as a portable apartment/in-law suite that you can rent out on AirBNB.
![]() 04/18/2017 at 18:18 |

You know what you can do with that Defender 110 pickup? Add one of those in-bed campers:
And then you can make money on it by renting it out on AirBNB...

![]() 04/19/2017 at 12:27 |
