Spent the day driving in the mountains for a reason... Doing a photoshoot and videos of the cars that are pretty much sold already anyway but with buyers waiting for photoshoot/videos. And of course, I went back home (200km away, I go to the office once a week or so only) WITHOUT my fucking GoPro that I left in the Cappuccino!
Since the sales are pretty much already settled and since the only thing waiting was the photoshoot (that I have!) and the video (that I don’t have), and since the shop is on holiday for the rest of the week: no sale for at least an extra week... I’m an idiot.
Pics of said Cappuccino where my GoPro is.. fuck me...
61000km on the clock and shipping to the US of A!

They’re gonna find it, they’re gonna view it, they’re gonna find out that “hey, that’s NOT me talking on the camera!” and call the person who had it last.
Or they’ll just delete it and move on.

Does a video matter so much to the buyers? If you would say that it runs and looks nice, I would probbaly be satisfied.
I have bought several cars with really crappy pictures and some even without pictures.

The cappuccino...As fun as the Beat is, it’s really too slow uphill. The Cappuccino is soooo much faster it’s stupid.

It matters for few reasons... First, I live on the other side of the world and sell cars from there. I’m not any different than any other exporter here in Japan, so in order to become a go-to exporter if you or anyone needs a car from here, I chose to describe and show the cars like no other exporter does. In detail through tons of pictures, walk around videos and driving videos (regular city driving for “normal cars” and full blown runs up and down the mountains for sports cars...) with commentary in which I try to share my experience.
Being a small exporter in a business like this is not easy, so it really require me to stand out. And having my customers know who they buy the car from and to get EXACTLY what they saw on pictures and video when the car arrives, is extremely important to differentiate oneself from all the exporters that can be for some either a lot shadier or simply don’t give a crap about what they ship. Of course, they’re not all like that, but none go through such length to properly showcase each car they sell.
That, and I probably wouldn’t do this job if I didn’t spend an extended amount of time driving cool stuff in cool places :)

Ok. I guess there’s competition that you have to surpass.
But you seem to have way too fun with your work. I hate selling anything, but I make it appear quite fun.
Too bad I don’t have budget currently. Otherwise I would ask you to look for something...

Any interest in tracking cars down for someone? I had a mk2 mr2 briefly and want to get another, it will be a weekend car so I am really leaning towards going crazy and importing. Probably late this year or sometime next

Just let me know when you’re ready and I could find one fairly easily... JDM turbo Mk2 Mr2 are more powerful than USDM too ;)

Yup that is one of the other reasons I like the idea haha. Do you have a good email I can reach you at when I’m ready?

Oh crap, I was not thinking right. That is what I think I am going to do, I was thinking next year I could get one (gen3 right?) What’s a ballpark on something like that? I see some importing currently for 10-12k for a nice one it looks like?

A lot less... If I were to sell one to you right now, a 1994 turbo model, it would probably be between 6 and 8000$ shipping included.

I have a very vague understanding of the import laws in the US, I could import, store and then register in 2 years right? So I could theoretically start looking now? I am guessing every other MR2 there is red like here haha

No, you wouldn’t be able to fill in the proper importation forms and the car simply would never be federally legal in the US. (Unless exported to another country, imported there legally, them exported again toward the US with all the export documents...)
So yes, basically, all the illegally imported Skylines or Silvia in the US are doomed and never will be federally legal.
