How do I get my PNG file back? It won’t open in Paint, and error messages come up in Photo Viewer.

What they’re doing effectively is comparing the file with the PNG specification of the file, and then brute forcing what’s corrupt to try to make it match what it’s supposed to be. Granted, my guess is that the corruption in your case isn’t the same as their corruption...
