It rained on my clean car today. Per usual.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
TL;DR: Drove the S10 to work for fear of rain. I spent six hours on the car on Friday and wasn’t keen on it getting dirty this fast. Rain left the forecast and the sun came out. I swapped cars at lunch.
Let’s face it. A 2016 Mazda6 is a lot better drive than a 1995 Chevy S10 with about 100 things wrong with it. But, as soon as I got back to work, boom. Rain. All afternoon. Sigh.
I got home and went after it with some microfiber cloths and my Zymol detailing spray. All is well. I’m stubborn, I know. OCD, too. Oh well.

I hardly ever wash my car due to two factors:
1. I live on a dirt driveway, so immediate disappointment is had.
2. Pollen has been going strong since late January.

Similar situation. I live near and work next to farmland. Plus, California. Drought is more important than my vanity.

No I do not have this issue. My car is 11 years old and beyond me giving a shit as long as there are not large chunks of road kill stuck to the bumper.

I used to do the same thing! Consider a good sealant to cut down on cleaning time considerably.

Waterless washes exist and so do rinseless washing which uses only 2 gallons of water.

Sure, but mud and dirt are constantly on the roads from tractors and people who work in the fields. It’s an exercise in futility I can’t win. So, I keep it minimal and only wash on a “as needed” basis, like before this Wednesday when I have to attend a luncheon in my boss’s place. I’ll probably even wear slacks to work that day.

I know a lot of people have problems with detailing sprays and call them useless swirl makers, but I love using it. I keep it in my car to get bird crap off.

Keeping your car waxed actually helps with the pollen issue. Doesn’t stick on as easily.

No. If I wash my truck, it actually will rub off more of the paint.

I don’t have a garage so you will have no sympathy from me.

When we were looking for a new home, my must have was a two car garage. I refused to look at any homes that didn’t have one.

Well try that in SF.

That is beautiful. I most certainly neither have the time or inclination though. I live on a dirt road so it doesn’t matter anyway. I wash them in the spring to get some of the salt from the winter off and then just drive them.
I do the same with my bikes, I know people at work who will spend a weekend detailing their bikes and literally take off body panels and trunks to get every spec of dirt removed. I’d much rather spend the weekend riding...

No thanks. I’ll stick to Kentucky where property values are dirt cheap.

I haven’t washed mine in an embarrassing amount of time due to pollen and such. It’s yellow now so the rain is more than welcome from me

Every time. I can check the forecast and the rain radar and it’ll be clear for hours.
As soon I pack the chamois away the sky will darken and I’ll hear the thunderous laughter of the sky gods as it begins to rain.

Yeah, the rain rearranged the pollen on my car today.
