From the story on the front page. Kinja won’t let me hyperlink stuff right now.
“There’s also a 2001 turbocharged, all-wheel drive !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! built for SCCA racing that was estimated to cost $800,000 to develop.”
Isn’t that a bit excessive? I understand wanting to build the fastest car and all, but these people kill the grassroots racing leagues.

I guess I’m confused on how you could spend $800k on a 996. Porsche will sell you actual race cars for less than that. That’s enough to buy a fleet of Gt2/3 for your racing aspirations.

The West DSR that was also built so he could destroy grassroot competition isn’t in the auction, strangely. If I had the money, I would love to have one of those 458s, but I’d always have that guilt in the back of my mind that the car was originally purchased by screwing people over.

I’m too lazy - oops, I mean busy — to look. Are these cars able to be licensed for street use?

If I remember right in the Dinner with Racers episode they said that DSR car was sold to a buyer a long time ago.
