Blew through my data gap this month. Then blew through the extra GIG of data in one day. WTF.
Chrome used 2.9GIG in background. Play Music responsible for an additional 4gb background.
Yes, dumbass Android blew through 7gb of data IN THE BACKGROUND. Fuck. I miss windows phone.

Data saver restricts apps’ background data usage. Depending on which version you’re running, this can be enabled in settings.

What is chrome even doing with data in the background? The only reason I can come up with for why Chrome would be using any data in the background would be that you left open a page which was up/downloading a ton of data. Probably shouldn’t be going to that site as it is probably doing a ton of malicious stuff.
You should set play music to only download on Wifi and if you don’t stream on the go to also only stream on Wifi.

I recently switched to an unlimited data plan and for the lols I turned off all of the data saving apps across my phone to see what would happen.
97gb in one month is what happened. Google just loves to send me shit.

I have and manage our companies 24 cel phones.
Our plan covers 3 gb of data for each user. And our data is shared, so basically 72 gb per month.
Our last month we busted for the first time. For a total of 110 gb
I only check my top two users and my second place user had 13 gb
And my winner had 30gb.

I would tend to think it’s mostly your fault for not configuring your phone/apps correctly. and for Chrome to use 2.9go in the background, you most certainly did something very wrong as it’s not something I’ve ever seen happen... If you were in Canada, this alone would most likely cost you something like 100$ lol. As for Play Music, I don’t use it, but does it have an “offline” access for your library or something similar? If so, it probably downloaded it because you didn’t tell it to do such thing when conencted to Wi-Fi only... It usually would ask you upon first use of the app or you can always configure it later on...
But I think your lack of experience on Android is more responsible than Android itself :)

It would seem you’re doing something wrong. Been using Android phones for many years and I struggle to use more than 512 MB every month. That includes using my phone to stream music and navigate on 300-mile round trips on at least a monthly basis.

And they tried to explain that my monthly data was well under the 4Gb usage.

I miss my Windows Phone too. We are a minority. Although I do appreciate having an app store with more than three apps.

I’m curious, how do you use so much data? I frequent many sites that have a decent amount of media on my mobile data and rarely do I use more than 2.4 of my 3gb. Of course I avoid videos directly, but that’s a given, and if your curious, with my Google account always syncing stuff, my chrome has only used 34mb of background data and it isn’t restricted.
