Think that was based on an Opel ... and not a bad car, really.

It wasn’t that bad, just a misunderstood Opel.

Kind of the precursor to the CTS. Before the Catera, it was North Star V8s driving the front wheels wasn’t it?

Not saying I’d buy one but ehhhh, it seems like Cadillacs first step in the right direction.

It was also the B1 & B2 Opel Omega and VT Holden Commodore. The Opel wasn’t particularly interesting but the Holden had a couple of different Holden-made V8s and later the LS1.

exactly - the Cimmaron was the epitome of badge engineered horribleness, the Catera was the flickering glimmer of greater things to come.

At the time, the Opel Omega was actually a big deal. I would guess that bad manufacturing ruined the Catera.

Are you messing with me? Cause if not, some joker needs to rebadge their cts stat.

Not just based on, it was an Americanized rebadged Opel. The Opel wasn’t a ‘sports’ sedan nor a luxury vehicle.
