That’s a great shot, but I really hate how craigslist-y instagram is with the endless hashtags.

Lol. Why would anyone buy a sports car for fuel economy? If you want a 4 cylinder for weight reasons, then you surely don’t want an F type, which is a pretty heavy car. Keep in mind, an F Type R weighs 3814 lbs, whereas my full size sedan weighs 3726 lbs. Even with a 4 cylinder, the Jag only weighs 25lbs less than my LS. Not to say that the F type is a bad car, but I really can’t think of a worse candidate for a 4 cylinder.

I mean all I do in my “sports car” is commute. And I want another. Better fuel economy would be nice.

Not to mention other countries tax cars on C02 or engine size.

From what I understand many European countries have taxes based on emissions/fuel economy. Meaning you will pay less in taxes for this car. If you’re simple into the car for the looks, its a good option. Personally I’m still going for the supercharged manual v6 .

If Jaguar really wanted to make a 4cyl sports car, they should’ve made a car completely different to the F Type to set it apart from it

I totally get that, but if you’re making an efficient sports car, the F type is a bad place to start. If you were to buy a sports car for comuting, with a little spirited driving thrown in for good measure, you could buy a C7 Corvette with a 460 hp V8 which will return 17/29 mpg(city/highway) , or get an F Type with a 4 cylinder which will return 20/28 mpg, forgoing 165 hp in the process.

The V6 would be my choice as well. I’d prefer an AMG GT for looks, but that’s just me.

I would prefer one as well, but that’s another $30k+

People are missing the point. This will sell like crazy in countries with displacement-based taxes.

It’s not about making an efficient sports car. It’s about a cheaper, more attainable F-type - one they can sell in larger volumes. A smaller, more efficient, less polluting engine goes a long way in Europe where cars are heavily taxed on emmsions. The difference in taxation likely has a bigger effect on the price than the reduced manufacturing cost for the smaller motor.

This car is for those who have dreamed of owning an F-type but have thus far been held back by the price of entry. They don’t care [much] about how powerful it is, or even how efficient it is, just that they can drive and be seen in an F-type. Also, Jaaaaag cachet.

I guess I didn’t really think about the displacement tax. It’s just not something I’ve ever had to deal with lol.

The single exhaust tip is beautiful, but I hate that body-color splitter.
