I didn’t know the UK wanted this. It’s not slow, 5.4 seconds to 60 mph, top speed was 155 mph I think. No manual, yet! Better balance but it isn’t like it’s now a front engined Cayman, right? US Oppo, is this something you’d be interested in? I mean the old 2014 V8 S Convertibles are probably cheaper than this would start right now.

New? No. But assuming that it was priced accordingly low compared to others on the used market, I wouldn’t discount it.
It’s funny to think that there’s a 2017 F-Type that makes six more horsepower than my 16 year old XJ8.

Only if they made it sound as amazing as the 6 and the 8.

If it’s low enough my dad would be all over it because he loves these things badly as coupes.

Following the curve of the other F-type engines available, that would put it at just around 40k. If it still sounds pretty good, I’d say that’s a good buy.

I want this. Gib pls.
I’ll take it in Blackberry Metallic over black leather.

This will be the one to own. Out of warranty.
Its a Jag, when it gets old you’ll be under the hood and this one will have so much room! I can’t find an engine bay picture though.

I would be interested if it had a manual. At about 3500 pounds It’s more like a British Ecoboost Mustang than a front engined Cayman, which is great.

I was just thinking that too when I remembered the Camaro 4-cyl matches it. Would be sexy.

I would never buy a 4 cylinder F-type, I don’t really follow the auto news, so I discovered it in the form of a proto at work. A soul crushing experience.

It is the British Ecoboost! People have been spending stupid money on turbo 4s in Audis (and now BMWs) for years, not surprising the option is coming to Jag. Progress (if that’s what this is) wait for no man.

considering the V6 manual starts at 61k this thing makes no sense

Good luck.

starts at 59,900. aka 1500 less than the V6 Manual with 50 more HP

It’s a winning formula, if it’s affordable then who wouldn’t want one?

Can’t speak for Americans, but the F-Type is too expensive in Canada. A V6S with common options is over $100k. If the 4 cylinder is priced and equipped right, I can see it working.

0/10 would buy. If I am spending my money on one of those someday (it will have to be used) I want a V8 with a manual and RWD, but some reason they won’t make that so I will settle for the V6 S. I can’t decide if I want a coupe or a vert... It is such a tough choice.

Aw, it’s not as affordable as it could have been. Starts at $59,900. I guess that’s competitive with the Boxster, but man...if it had been XE priced?

The current average UK fuel price for premium unleaded is £1.18/liter. Converted to ‘Murrican that’s $5.62/gallon. Sure it’s a premium car but yes, there is a market for a 4-cylinder F-Type over there.

Booooooo, just buy a used SC/V6 manual and enjoy it more.

Was it that bad to drive?

I sadly don’t drive them. I guess they drive alright, it’s just the idea to put a 4 cylinder engine in such a car that I don’t like
![]() 04/12/2017 at 12:39 |

The car has a lot of heft so I was curious how the 4 cylinder felt.

Well, if it doesn’t sell well because it’s not cheap enough, it’ll get enough discounts to make it probably worth it.

Yeah, maybe. I feel this one really needs the stick option. Of course it not having it probably signals the V6 won’t get the option anymore either.
