So I hadn’t seen a whole lot of the big or professional folks doing in depth reviews on the Alfa Romeo Giulia Base / TI, so here is my review.
It honestly creams (in terms of being a blast to drive, making me smile, and turning heads) everything other than maybe the new B9 Audi A4. It’s still more eye catching, but driving wise, there’s some unspoken similarity.
I say this beats most Germans, and even keeps up in many ways with the A4 with no bias (if anything, I feel I’d be biased against the Alfa, as I owned two recent 3 series, and currently own the new C & B9 A4).
Even with the Audi- they’re close. I say to cross shop both, because the B9 Audi is just that good. But for the extra style, and drama- would you guys chose the Alfa? Let me know.
I hope the Giulia sells well, it deserves to, and gives some much needed competition to the Germans/Japanese companies who all just sort of compete themselves.
The world needs more interesting cars and this definitely qualifies.
As always- if you found this interesting, informative, not illogical, or even entertaining- please star/ recommend/ and follow DFWsCars. It really helps.

I’ve driven one. Pretty nice. Interior is kind of shit as far as quality goes, but it’s a nice car overall definitely worth considering. Armrest, door handles, etc. have hard and sharp cheap plastic edges. But it’s stylish and nice to drive, if a little lacking in power (barely, but it’s perfectly adequate).

I’m sorry, I thought I heard you say “Alfa Romeo” and “everyone will buy” in the same sentence.
Honestly though, good on you for reviewing something other than the Quadrofloggifluglio. This is more useful than most reviews I’ve seen. How many of these do you think we’ll see in lease and fleet sales?

Ya, it’s the fastest in its class 0-60 but the Audi somehow feels faster. The BMW/Mercedes are more luxury inside for sure, but it’s not the worst Luxury interior either. Also, the one with the leather package or lusso package, that has leather in a lot of the places you mention helps a ton.

Haha, I hope it sells well- it genuinely deserves it. It’s shockingly well made, but does have quirks. The dealer I was at sold one while I was there. This car and the SUV are really make it or break it for Alfa and from what I’ve seen- they deserve to make it.

No no I did, still felt cheap. But 205 C-class is my benchmark. Giulia feels like shit inside comparatively, but wins in other categories.

Interesting your comment about being made well. I’ve heard reviewers comment about how quality is still an issue, even thought they love it otherwise. I wonder how much is perception bias and how much may have been preproduction issues.

I bet a combo of both? I had no bad experience with Alfas as I’m too young, but honestly did go in expecting something to fall off in my hand. Hence why I said “shockingly well made.” Nothing glared at me. I heard no squeaks, rattles, loose trim (which my fairly new Fiat even has). It seems like a decently put together car. Whether it will hold up, remains to be seen though. I read Chrysler invested a lot of $ in QQ, and I bet Alfa knowing this car is important for them worked really hard on that. Plus they spent a fortune on it too.

The lady in the review barely speaks into the mic. Whats up with that? lol
(Or shes not really a car person?)

Haha, little of 3 things. She’s my camera assistant, and often holds the camera, films me, etc. I ask her opinion because I think it’s interesting to see what a girl thinks of cars. Also, she does like cars (although is still learning), but honestly didn’t have much to say on this one. Plus she though we were going to drive the QV, which is the one I may actually get. In this other review she actually does contribute: Budget electric showdown what does 5-7k get ya? Fiat 500E vs Smart ForTwo ED Review
