They’ve finally managed to have a tech look at it, and after 4 days finally ask the question “is there a tuner on it?”
No.
Of course I didn’t finish the thought, “I uninstalled it on Sunday.”
They still haven’t told me what went wrong, but I should have it back today!
Unrelated photo for your time.

Considering they were questioning about a tune I would say the computer which controls the wipers and hood stuff failed. My bet is water ingress.

It took them 4 days before they even looked at it?? That’s annoying.

Thats kind of my guess as well. I’m sure they can tell that the computer had been wiped, but I didn’t want to deal with the issues of “your COBB tune did it” because I don’t believe that.

Every day I got a text “It’s in his bay and he’s look ing at it” This morning’s reply to my request for information was the first time there’s been anything more. But yeah, 4 days before they looked at it is really annoying. Especially as my loaner is the most stripped down Focus on the lot.

I know you meant this:
But it made me think this:
So I laughed twice.

Seriously. They better have offered a loaner car. They probably didn’t, which is why it took so long.

At least you have a loaner - in my experience, you having a loaner usually speeds them up a bit, so they can get their car back, even if it’s a POS. “It’s in his bay and he’s looking at it” my ass. Best case, he stood 75 feet away from it and gave it a glance while he sipped his coffee.

all of the Ford dealers around here have gone to a new model on loaners. They have rental counters rent you a car. Then, if it’s actually warranty work, Ford picks it up. If not, then I have to pay for this penalty box.

Wait, so you don’t know if you’re paying for that POS base Focus yet or not? I mean, it should be warranty work, but if they try to hit you for repairs AND a rental car, I’d be really pissed off.

And I thought Mercedes-Benz loaners were comically bad.
I got this once when I took in my first smart:

Correct on all counts. It should be warranty work, especially with only 4700 miles on the clock.

yeah, the interior plastics are warped. I used to own a Focus and it was much better than this car.

Would you have to pay if the final word is “cannot replicate issue”?

I guess for the most part, you know going in whether something will be warranty or customer pay. In your case, it should be pretty clearly warranty, tune or not. Hope you get it back, fixed and free, today!

Good question. I hope not, since it still wasn’t able to be started when I dropped it off...
