For those of you who like guns or old things, today my dad aquired a very cool thing from his brother -a near original Winchester 1892 lever action! I’m not so much into guns but i had a great time playing with it and researching .
It turns out it’s a very early example made mid 1894.I dont think our family has ever had something so old before so it’s all very cool.
The only fly in the ointment is that it’s been converted to .218 Bee rounds. I actually like those but for sure it cuts it value.
Some weird trivia: This gun was marketed as ‘ the gun that won the west’ even though it came out just after that era.To be fair it was near identical to the previous -and true- cowboy guns.Annie Oakley used one for her sharpshooting.
Oh- and just about every lever action gun in western movies was the 1892 model. The studios used them because they were easily available, looked near identical to the previous models and were easily chambered for standard blanks.

Very cool gun, but what a very strange round. Originally made for the Model 65 Winchester. Your sure it isn’t a 65?
