Nissan once sold the Pulsar Sportback. Not just a funky-looking hatchback, but one you could convert into a notchback.

Wasn’t there someone on here who bought one?

I have no recollection of that, but that doesn’t mean it never happened.

And it will never happen again, every body wants one touch automatic tops like the Miata RF.

I’ve seen one about ten years ago with the hatch.

We need more funky. There are a few here and there, but not enough. Last time I saw one of these was a few years ago in a Walmart parking lot.

There’s a period Japanese toy version with a working hatch and tilting seats.

I would sell my soul for a kit that let me do this with the e24. Also those tail light covers.

I had one once. It was broken and I never managed to fix it. It didn’t have seats nor did it run but it was uphill from my friend’s house. Here’s a pic of him driving it boat-style home.

Always loved these things. Almost had one for my first car, but even in 2008 they were all pretty much wrecks.

I’d guess that was to bring down costs of producing something so novel
