2008 is still a bit early in the 221 production run.

Bad idea, but only because I’ve driven a lot in Australia and the roads aren’t really built for cars this big. I dare you to try to take it into the Coles parking lot in Newport - it would never fit.

Terrible idea. Unless you plan to put an exhaust kit on it and your commute features tunnels. Then it’s worth the pain.

At least you’ve got some cool restaurants and artsy stuff out that way. But also not a lot of roads that the big Merc would love.
A good friend moved from Sydney to Ararat a couple of years ago. And actually 30 kms from “downtown” Ararat in the direction away from Ballarat. I keep meaning to go visit but even from Melbourne that’s a hike.

Do it. And then take it to Calder Park and surprise bogans in VEs by running 12 second passes back to back.

Why is the distronic sensor (the square in the middle of the grill) painted??? Not sure it will still work like that, and it looks dumb.
While the 221 is a massive improvement in reliability over the 220, it’s still a twin turbo V12 S-class. It will inevitably be expensive to own. But if your budget is 50% higher than you’re paying for it, and that excess cash goes into a repair fund, you should be fine.
On top of the normal expensive items these have, this one also appears to have front and rear carbon ceramic brakes. Which would basically cost you a brand new mirage to do pads and rotors all the way around.
