I saw one awhile back and it made me wonder how rare they were. And what are they worth?

Really in comparison to everything else they made. Strangely enough they aren’t worth that much in comparison to everything they made.

Rare, not valuable. Probably a high survival rate compared to sedans. It’s the Jag equivalent of an SLC - chic when new, ignored today. Restoration costs will fly past the value of a restored car.

When I was a kid, an old guy in the small town where I lived had one identical to the car in the lead pic. His other car was a blue and silver earlier Silver Shadow. Those were quite exotic to me in the late 80s.

Rare. And I want one badly. It’s up there with the pseudo-convertible-pre-convertible-XJSes on my list of 70s–80s Jag wants.

Total XJC production for Jaguar is 7,109 with 604 of those being V12's, and a handful more were produced and badged as Daimlers (jag-lovers.com). They do seem to bring a little bit more than a saloon (4-door) in comparable condition...surprisingly little given how pretty and how relatively rare they are. It seems to be correct that the survival rate has been greater than for 4-doors.

iirc they’re said not to be all that great as cars...not awful, just not spectacular...because basically they’re a factory chop and re-weld of a sedan...apparently lots had vinyl roofs to cover up the lumpy re-solder, and leakage around the pillarless windows often was a problem.

Beautiful even so

Wikipedia says they built 10,000 overall.

Some history and a price from a local shop near me, they sold the car recently. http://www.sportscarshop.com/1977-jaguar-xj6-coupe/
