my daughters are almost 5. We keep trying to explain to them why we didn’t have phones/tablets/laptops when we were their age

A good friend of mine is trying to get his daughter to understand that there was a time you had to be leashed to a single point on the wall when you made a phone call...and that there were also dials on the phones rather than buttons.

My cousin just went to college in the fall and I had to explain to him what it was like to horde quarters and need phone cards to call your family.

I was asked about my favorite concert I ever attended recently and I reflected back to the Smashing Pumpkins with the opening act of Garbage in the Van Andel Arena. I remembered it being in October, but it feels more recent than 1996.
