They apparently named this car after the answer someone gave to the designer when he asked, “how do you like it?” Cool graphics, though. It was the Portuguese Hummer, hence the name, hilariously. Peugeot diesel powered. The Pope rode in one once.

They aren’t bad. Very basic but rugged and practical for farm use.

The only problem I see is the drastic hood slope.

It’s like a mail truck crossed with a Brinks truck... not too bad.

Just as I was thinking “we had these” I saw the licenseplate on the first one. DUTCH!!!!

Even our army was thinking about getting these. It’s actually a French design!

Our local authority used to have a fleet of these years ago. Didn’t stay in service long as I recall.

Haha. You guys got every car, apparently. I didn’t realize how widespread they were. I thought just the Portuguese used them. It is French, yeah. I guess it is a pretty clever design. Must be simple to manufacture and repair. That’s why it looks a little like the Karenjy.

To be honest: I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on the road. I would remember that, I think. And with a French background that’s not surprising actually ;-)

Apparently they were pretty durable. Those Peugeot diesels were built to survive a war. That would be a fun thing to import and take to some 4X4 gathering. It would be a real head-scratcher for most people here.

And it’s a separate chassis so it’s possible quite a few survived. Without a body. Finding one proves to be hard though. No Cournil for sale, just one Alter on Mobile.de . That’s the same livery but looks way better!

Yeah, I’m not sure how many total they built, but the Portuguese Army had them, so maybe those survived. That one looks fantastic. That price seems reasonable considering the shape it’s in. You’d spend a hell of a lot more on a Toyota.

I think we need to go to France for one of those... Even a Heuliez!!!!

Looks like they’re easy to find. And definitely cheap. Except for the Heuliez which is the coolest one. 120 km/h max speed. It’s a rocket.

Not sure if keeping it running is cheap, there’s often a reason for those prices...

True. But, I thought those motors ran forever?

There’s more to a car than just the engine! And it’s a cheap car due to it’s uncommon looks/image, hence people economize on maintenance, etc., etc.

Kinja'd!!!1

Well, that’s exactly the kind of shit I’m used to. Cars that were too weird to maintain properly. When I’m in the market for a 4X4, it’s going to be an UMM. Or a Fiat Panda.

Or a BJ212...

Or a UAZ-469, there’s a lot to chose from actually.

Haha, I saw a Suzuki X90 finished in matte grey with extremely fat tires yesterday and I immediately had to think about this “discussion”. All arguments are invalid though if you keep this in mind:

X-90's are so great. Completely ridiculous cars. I wanted to click on the video. What the hell is that thing? That does kind of close the book on the subject. Those wheels and tires are complete madness. Is it a six-door, too?
