Nice pic, even if it is not exactly period (the ice-cream logo gives the game away). I wonder where that place is?
[Off-topic... ever heard of the Fiat 500 Africa? Sahara? expedition? The engines are so light they took some complete units as spares! Unfortunately that is as much as I heard of it.]

I’ve never heard of any 500 Expeditions, no! I know the engines are light enough for a reasonably strong person to pick it up (sans transmission, of course) by themselves - wouldn’t surprise me!
