I daily drove an RX8 for about 6 years. I remember the leaky tail lights well, almost as well as the leaky engine seals. The bulid quality on that car sucked. A lot of the trim fell apart.
That condensation will continue to be a problem. I replaced several of these - an expensive part even when the car was still in production.

I got 2 under warranty, my RX8 was originally a California car. After that, I never had a condensation issue here. Thankfully. The build quality on mean was good. Everything stayed together. I will say the silver console trim scratched so easily that I pulled it out amd painted it body color (Titanium Gray) and clear coated it. I’ll rate it as the funnest vehicle I’ve owned.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

I keep considering an RX-8 as a next car, because they are available in the 4-8,000 dollar range. But it also scare me and I think I’d be safer with an New Edge Mustang.
criteria is a 4 seater, RWD, Manual with maybe some potential to be a drift car.

I almost bought one but it felt to compromising to me for what I needed versus what it delivered. I’m glad I didn’t, it would have ended up as bad as the time I bought a Subaru xt-6 from a Russian truck driver who lived in the middle of a strawberry field in south Sacramento.

Mazda’s build quality seems to have been a little inconsistent around that time. I’ve read many pages of BK Mazda3 owners complaining about rattles, squeaks, and stuff back when the cars were new, but my 152K-mile 06 has only ever had one rattle and that was when I made the mistake of installing a poly rear transmission mount. Hasn’t been a problem since I reinstalled the stock mount.
The only thing my car suffers from is rust.

On mine, I had to rebuild the engine and I replaced the gearbox twice, but still, I miss it dearly. It was not the fastest car I’ve driven, but definitely the most engaging.
I fixed the tail lights with silicone, as suggested in some russian video on YouTube.
