This must be just N of Lake Washington (my cousin lives in Brier, those signs with the symbol seem familiar).

When you’re in the middle of nowhere, you’re half way to somewhere.

My wife grew up around there. It’s a nice place. Close to the lake and plenty of places to grab a bite and a drink.

Near my folks place there is an intersection of Nellie Gail and Nellie Gail. And if you look at the image below, MacArthur and Main meet twice within a mile...

If it makes you feel better, the power goes out there every time the wind blows. All those nice old-growth trees like to fall on things.

Somehow, that question is even more complex than you think.

ETA: it looks like this sign is at the section of 47Pl NE which is a junction between the part that points southwest, the portion that points southeast, and the private drive that points west southwest. The whole block being distinct from the portion that would point NE, but turns in a loop, because *THAT* makes sense. All off of 47th Ave NE, which leads one to assume that there’s also a 47th Ave SW, possibly with its own “place”.

There is in fact a 47th Ave SW in the opposite quadrant of the city, but it generally plays a lot nicer with the street grid.

...so far. They should hire someone to mess it up, in the interests of street fucked-upedness parity.

Actually, I was holding out on you. here’s 47th Avenue’s dirty little secret.
ETA: there’s actually a good reason for all this “place” nonsense: avenues all run north-south and streets all run east-west, so if there’s a segment that behaves differently due to topography or whatever (usually steep hills), they call it a “place” or “road” so you know going in that things may get weird.

There’s a section of M-53 north of Detroit that becomes a freeway, and has its exits numbered like so:
As you drive north, the first exit (exit 17) is for a highway that essentially counts as “20 Mile Rd”. Then when you get to EXIT 20, it’s for 23 Mile Rd. And then exit 23 takes you to 26 Mile Rd. You gotta pay close attention to avoid taking the wrong exit.

Wow, so 47th place isn’t even attached to 47th avenue. That’s a neat trick.
Atlanta mostly has avenues running east-west and streets running north-south, I think, which would be the opposite, but there’s also a number of “road”s running north-south, and several boulevards doing their own thing, not least of which is the boulevard called Boulevard. There are also some “places”, of course, and everything is Peachtree.
I don’t live there but I’ve spent a lot of time there.
