So I climbed under my car and started to pump it. My arm’s getting tired so I figured I’d take a pic and share it!

I just did that with a differential and a transfer case. It was unenjoyable to say the least. There’s got to be something better than a barista’s 1-shot pump that’s less expensive than a pneumatic drum pump.

I usually go into the bathroom or my bedroom to pump it, but if under your car gives you enough privacy, who am I to judge?
Enjoy the beautiful day!

Glad I wasn’t the only one thinking this...

Yeah, but think about it too much. It’s almost lunch time.

He’s never going to be able to wash the smell of gear oil off himself.

Yeah for just 3 qts the $4 Amazon special is not bad, but I can see it getting REAL old real quick on larger jobs.

My front and rear diffs take 3qts each and the transfer case takes another three. A trans drain and fill runs about 4-6 quarts. That’s mucho pumps!

That only holds .5qt though lol.

Privacy? I’m not doing anything shameful. This is something everyone should do every once in a while, so life affirming.

Not necessarily a bad thing, depending on your company.

I should have gotten something like this. Not enough room to swing a quart-size bottle of gear oil by my Mustang’s fill plug. (Plenty of room on the truck, though!)
Alas, I ended up filling my diff the hard way: I poured in the 4oz bottle of friction modifier, then kept refilling that little bottle with oil. Over and over again.

yeah, on this transmission the fill hole is angled towards the ground, so you have no choice but to pump, cant exactly pour it in.
