I sent an e-mail to Kinja support about this the other day, and this was the reply:
This feature is not yet open to users – though consider it coming soon once its ready.
You know how sometimes you see a FP article that is supposedly authored by two different people? I think it’s got something to do with that.

Well, I’m guessing that it would be up to the discretion of whomever started the post, to grant permission to someone that they would trust. Any problems with people editing one another’s words would then go to the mods.
