New episode of Family Guy, and they say Porsch . Not Porsche. COME ON, pronunciation is everything.

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of no one caring.

You’re holding Family Guy to a much higher standard than it ever should be.

I love American Dad a lot and routinely have it on Netflix in the background. That said, I’d sooner slit my wrists than watch five minutes of Family Guy.
I had a hard time coming to terms with that until I read an interview somewhere where MacFarlane said he just does the voices on American Dad, but doesn’t contribute to the writing and that he “doesn’t get the humor.” It made everything so much clearer.

Just for you, I’m going to pronounce ‘Porsche’ like this from now on;
P-or-ch. Like the front of your house. Porch.
Wow what a nice porch!

Growing up I always assumed people saying “Porsh” were deliberately shortening the name, like an abbreviation or slang kind of thing where they drop a syllable just to make it faster to say.
Not until a year or so ago did I find out how wrong I was in that innocent belief. I met someone who said they honestly thought the full pronunciation was “Porsh”and had actually changed how they say it after hearing me say “Porsh-uh”.
Basically I knew as a child that Porsh was not a full or correct pronunciation. What is wrong with people?

It’s disrespectful. Ferdinand Porsche, Hitler, Bugatti, Volkswagen, Ducati, everyone. All founded by a name that is mispronounced.
How would you like it if I pronounced your name CR? It’s obviously wrong.

Please, for the love of Ferdinand, Hitler, and the VW Group, no.

Family Guy is incredibly vulgar, but it’s one of the only shows I can stand to watch. There are many worse shows.

They have no respect. And everyone mispronounces Forza, too.

It actually happens all the time, even though my name is in English. Porsche is German. Suppose I gave you a last name in Japanese or Korean or any language you don’t know. How about Nguyen? Should I be mad if you can’t pronounce it? No, because different languages have different rules around pronunciation and emphasis on characters.

Yes, but purposely pronunciating it wrong is... not good.

How do you know if someone is purposely doing it? Maybe they don’t know, maybe they don’t care because they know that people will understand what they’re saying. For example, in your comment you wrote “purposely pronunciating it wrong”. It should say pronouncing. Do I understand what you meant to say? Absolutely, even though it’s wrong.
