195/50/15 BFG Sport Comp 2s to be mounted on the 15x7 RPF1s. They have been patiently waiting in the basemnt since summer. Just have to wait till I get home from Spring Break in Cancun.

Back in high school that size was the shit on our water-cooled VWs, but none of us could really afford to go with a +2 setup. I stuck with the stock +1 setup on my GTI, running 185/60HR14 P6s, whereas a buddy of mine had 205/60HR13 Comp T/As on gold BBSs on his Rabbit (and later a Mk II Scirocco).

I thought those50-series 15s were amazingly low-profile tires, and then I saw an E30 over at Dietel Enterprises, around the corner from ABT Motorsport, that had 205/50VR16s on Alpina wheels. Seriously sweet. And now, 30+ years later, my minivan with the smaller of the two wheel and tire options, runs 205/5R16s, the same size that used to be on Ferraris, Porsches and the like way back when. How times have changed.

Pretty sure those are the most popular tires on Oppo...

Best bang for your buck I suppose? I have em in 17s but I really gotta start looking to see if I can get any trades for 16s or 15s with similar tires.

Now if want a 14in performance street  tire your only option are Dunlop Star Specs.

Yeah, if you want anything better the price per tire increases by $30. At least that’s how it is for this size.

Correction - 195 /50VR16s on that E30, which means even a lower sidewall profile compared to 205/50VR16s (although comparing them to today’s performance tires would make them seem thick by comparison).

I had those on 275/40R20 for my SRT. They didn’t last very long before cords were showing, 2.5 summers maybe? And only 1 burnout on them! Thought they would last longer, at least 20-30k miles. Were fun while they lasted though.
