It’s not mine its a RS Berkeley a chinese stencil of a selmer paris serie II. I only own an alto saxophobe and a C melody buescher tenor. Also Ive been using my otto link metal mouthpiece. I’ve been covering tenor and bari this semester. Dream alto is a selmer mark vi.

Nothing better than coming out of retirement and proving an old dog can learn new tricks.

23 also. They called me old after I picked it up after a 1 year hiatus.

To be fair, just about everyone’s dream alto is the rare unengraved original lacquer Mark VI. The tenors were just as stellar.
An old Buescher or Buffet is a very nice (and far less expensive) alternative as far as classic saxophones go. My performance tenor is a first series Buescher 400 (top hat and cane, underslung octave key), and it plays almost as good as ANY Selmer tenor I’ve played.

How you liking that C melody?

It needs a repad so I haven’t played it. Got it for a whopping $30.

I played another students mark vi alto in high school. It was better than a yamaha 62 in a inexplicable way. It had character while the other alto’s yamaha 62 did the job and sounded great. Right now I’m looking at the limited run selmer usa omegas and 162s. Unknown and cheap even though they are pro line instruments.

Tell me more about these Selmer USA Omegas.
My son got into Berklee for fall 2017 and I need to get him a new axe.

Model numbers are 162 for alto and as100, as110. The bell has to say USA on it since selmer usa now uses the 100 designation now for student issue overseas made junk. They are selmer usa’s response to the series II.
