The Williams social media person at pre-season testing is filming everything in portrait.

Hot take: portrait videos are better for twitter since most views are on phones...

That’s the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Twitter is not a mobile-only applicaion.
Hotter take. You can rotate your phone, you can’t rotate your monitor.

Hotter take: If filmed correctly, ALL devices would benefit.

It works for twitter because twitter displays full size portrait videos. It is an issue in youtube and the like because they always display a landscape window with the portrait video compressed to fit.

This is my regular setup at work...

Also twitter is most popular as a mobile application to kill time

That would make sense if Twitter was only available on non-mobile platforms.

They could be using snapchat or instagram, both of which are heavy on the vertical videos because they’re primarily used on mobile. Source: I’m a social media analyst :) gotta get a job like that though... getting paid to hang out and post about car stuff would be a dream come true

My point is that unlike youtube you don’t lose resolution and size with a portrait video on twitter.

I see people watching landscape podcasts and videos every day on their mobile devices so I know people’s wrists still work.

You also won’t lose resolution if you just watched a landscape Twitter video in landscape. You turn the phone to watch it, turn it back when finished.
Portrait in this case is a shitty format. These are cars. Cars move horizontally across the planet.
Portrait is more often than not lazy and ignorant and rarely intentional.

I’m aware of Snapchat’s format, and I have no problem with it - that is, until it
leaves
the snapchat app.
The only mobile format I never complained about was Vine’s and Instagram’s 1:1 ratio.

Yeah Instagram drives me nuts, I’m not looking forward to learning and using it...
