Holy crap, this is the first good XK8 listing I've ever seen.

Kinja'd!!!

Someone buy this, quick.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

preventative maintenance done - tensioner guides, chains, belts, hoses, plugs replaced ($3,000 job), thermostat housing replaced with new alloy type, new headliner, tires good, new front rotors, many other new parts, painted Aug 2014

Why he painted it makes me a little weary, but this guy did everything right. and at 84k, that was all preventative. Forget the fact that this is one of the rare realistically priced XK8s (and that it didn’t have a leaper drilled in by some complete bastard dimwit), when you factor in all of the absolutely necessary work this guy put in, the price is more like $7000. This is literally the second Craigslist Jaguar ad I’ve ever seen where the seller had absolutely any clue about the maintenance for these. It seems like every other listing on Craiglist is by a sixth owner who didn’t put any research into the car before buying it and then wants to offload it after grenading the engine.

This warms my heart.

The clear coat on the dark color jags of that era got a little cloudy. Probably the reason for the new paint.

That’s a good point. Even my silver XJ8 is suffering some clear coat loss.

My Silver X-Type had some clear coat issues when I replaced it at 10 years old.

I’ve never had a car with such fragile paint. I’m still debating just doing a respray, but I’m not sure that it’s worth it at 145k.

It’s almost as if the Jaguar paint shop forgot there are places in the world where the sun shines most of the time

They were that British.

I figure it was a revolt over Ford’s ownership, they wanted to prove they were still British

“We’ll show those Yanks how Brits make cars. Someone get the plastic injection molder, we have an engine to build.”

This duratec V6 is too reliable, I know lets add 4 miles of Vacuum hose and then hide it under tons of plastic covers.

I like these a lot, and I think people will come to appreciate the styling in the next few years. It’s like a strange Jag version of the DB7

Unfortunately, I think they already have. This is the first local one that I’ve seen in a long time that was close to blue book without being trashed.

Yeah that seems to be a theme with Jags of this vintage, XJ-Rs are usually CP too. Something about the old guy owners I think lol. “I know what I’ve got...”

Meanwhile, the stuff I’m really into (XJ6/XJ-S) has remained reasonable, for now at least.

Nice find. And it’s always about a 5-1 ratio of convertibles to coupes that are for sale at any given time, too.

I saw this XJR recently that’s super tempting: https://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/6018958592.html

But I worry about what average interior condition means in a listing without interior photos.

I’ve noticed that too. I love the coupes, but it doesn’t seem like anyone in my area bought them.

Yeah there are tonsss of buttons in these, a shoddy interior would be awful
