Back in March of 2016, I was hating my job and realized that I was making enough money to get another toy car. I wanted to get a second M3 for the track and then tow it with my E90. Sadly, because of the exhaust on the E9X M3, you can’t tow with it, so I started shopping AMGs.

Yep! It’s a pretty awesome setup that connects into the holes for the tow hooks.

I’m thinking about weight distribution here. If you’re loading that tool box with tools, what’s going on the front of the trailer to keep the tongue weight tolerable?

Nice. I like it! Out of place tow vehicles are great. Like this GT3!

Nice I like it. How different is the offset?

A set of wheels and tires

That’s pretty awesome

They’re 16x6.5 +55, so not too far off from stock Toyobaru wheels.

I don’t think I could tow jack squat. If I have even 2 passengers, I can’t even maintain freeway speeds.

I hauled along at 70+ mph no problem.
I bought the trailer from a pretty competitive national autocrosser, and he said he’s towed it a good ways to nationals with both his RX8 and NC without issue.

You do some ice racing right? What snows do you have and how well do they work? I need to replace mine which it turns out are almost as old as my car.

High five! I have my toolbox in front of the wheels.

Blizzak WS-80s. They’ve been great. Now that they’re around 50-55% tread their performance in ice racing has dropped off pretty significantly, but that’s the case with all winter tires. When I buy again I’ll likely get a set of General Arctic Altomac though. It’s tough to beat the performance of those for the cost.

Nice setup!

Depending on wheels and tires... they are mounted further forward than the toolbox is back... I hope you measured it out. Negative tongue weight sucks.

Doesn’t the manual state not to tow with the vehicle though?

Yeah, but plenty of cars say that and are still able to tow a small utility/tire trailer. Miatas have been doing it forever. Also, lots of cars that say not to tow in the U.S. manual will have a tow rating in Europe. That isn’t the case with the Twins, but I’ve known plenty of people who’ve towed tire trailers with them.
The trailers don’t weigh all that much, even loaded with wheels/tires, tools, and a jack. You could easily load the car with that much weight internally. As long as you’ve got it properly distributed and have a good tongue weight it’ll work fine.
