Something you love that isn’t too common? Mine’s gotta be 80s American cars on black steelies. Saw a Grand Fury today that looked similar to this one, and idk, I just love em. Something about the boxy look maybe, because I love a good old Volvo wagon on steelies too. Mmmm G-Bodys.

What say you Oppo?

I almost went off the road yesterday trying to crane my neck to catch a glimpse of this cherry box Caprice coming the other way last night.

This morning, same road, other direction, mint Monte G-body. Something’s going on.

Im the same way with 80s American cars, maybe cause I caught a glimpse of some of them in my single digit years (2003-2007) but now they’ve all disappeared.

My automotive fetish is definitely driving inappropriate cars for the occasion. Whatever it is, use the wrong car. So for autox, use a 70s diesel Olds. For going to the ski mountain, bring a Miata. For some sort of off roading excursion, bring a Prius. It’s just hilarious seeing it and it’s even better experiencing it!

If only driving these things wasn’t legitimately scary. The brakes don’t really work, the steering doesn’t really work, and they are so damn slow. It makes you sympathize with truckers when you go from a normal car to one of these bad boys.

I am into everything aero related, I just love the weird stuff. Diffusers, splitters, wings, venturi tunnels and wheels spats are my jam, but my true interest lies in LongTail Specials. God I love them.

Lame GM front-wheel-drive stuff from the ‘80s and ‘90s. J-Body, A-Body, L-Body, N-Body, etc. Love them all. I shouldn’t. But, I do.

It’s got to be a 2003-2004 mercury marauder for me. Or even better, a 1980s mercury lynx 4 door hatch.

Me too :) my previous DD . 07 Camry SE 2.4l 5 speed. $100 each Discount tire rims which already came in the right color. Bought the blackout headlights to match the grill. Slow but pretty tossable. comfy on road trips and cheap to run.

That looks really good. A small drop in ride height (1.5"), and it would be absolutely perfect. What’s your current DD?

I still want one. 4 barrell 318 A727 transmission 8 1/4 rear with sure grip and dog dish caps. All things to lust after. I wonder what a clean one goes for?

I think one would be awesome. All the parts are pretty much muscle car parts. Swap in a nice 360 instead of the 318 and a 8 3/4 rear instead of the 8 1/4 and that thing would rip and be super durable.

It’s surprising how good that gen Camry can look. There’s a very similar one I see on a regular basis and every time I see I just think “wow that looks good”. It’s a dark silver cooor with black snowflake wheels that are either 17" or 18" eitherthey look just right. It’s a V6 sport model with the lip kit, and dual exhaust. And it has reasonably tinted widows.

Thanks! Agreed that a little lower would make it look much more put together. Thought about stiffer springs / lowering it a bit but also afraid of take out the front airdam while parking it if it was any lower. I did that with my old spectra5 after only owning it a month. My new dd is an 04 G35 sport. Love it for the speed but miss the Camry ‘s manual gearbox.

Excuse the pre-carwash photo

I would have loved the v6 but the 4 kept me out of trouble with the cops and made for a good slow-car-fast experience. Had to plan ahead to pick the right gear for every situation. Plus it was less nose heavy.

I stumbled on this car looking at something else at a true family owned mom and pop car lot. They picked it up from an Acura dealer that couldn’t move it with the stick shift apparently lol. The sales guy had a Brazilian 70s vw coupe and we bonded. They stayed after hours on a Friday to make it happen and found me a good finance deal just based on my credit. Great experience.

Nice! Man, that G35 would look money lowered on color-matched FX50 six spokes. What prompted the switch from the Camry?
