It may just be a fancy, weird-looking Punto, but I, for some reason quite like the first=gen Lancia Ypsilon...
Also....look at the interior color options!!!

I’ve always had a thing for them somehow. But this is the first generation Lancia Y:

I think it looks hideous and Chinese. Interior is cool though.

I’d actually been considering an ypsilon for a while (not the first gen, but a used one) as they’re faster than the panda and have nicer interiors.

It actually looks kindof cheerful and inviting, eh?

Yup...the Lancia Y10. I love small Italian cars, so I quite like the Y10 as well! :D
This ‘second gen’ as you call it was technically the second gen of a car named ‘Y’ but the first gen of this platform, wasn’t it? Didn’t they start calling this very model the Ypsilon rather than just ‘Y’ somewhere in the midst of it’s production run before the second-generation of this platform?

Haha, well, I never said I wasn’t weird! :D
I wouldn’t say it looks Chinese, but it’s certainly....unique! :P

I wish they sold the current-gen or last-gen Panda here in Canada. Very useful, fairly reliable little daily drivers from what I’ve heard.

I’ve heard that as well, although they’re not as common in the Netherlands as the Toyota Aygo/Citroen C1/Peugot 107/108. (They’re all Aygos.)
Granted, these cars being common has nothing to do with reliability but when you see plenty of early examples chugging away this many years down the line it definitely says something about the design.

Almost looks as if Lotus took the design language and ran with it when they came up with the APX.

Yup - knew those three cars were the same underneath with a little different sheetmetal. Always thought the rear hatch glass-only door on earlier ones was a neat design cue!
Odd about there not being many 2nd or third-gen Pandas in the Netherlands. As a Canadian, my internet travels always told me they were fairly common across all of Europe. :)

I thought the hatch glass was a great design element on the Aygos, my wife and I actually looked into purchasing or leasing one. It wasn’t until after we went through with leasing a Yaris Hybrid that I realized how terrible it must be to try to fit things in the back of an Aygo. It’s not that they lack space, but that glass part is the only part that opens!
