The R8 is currently at the detailer getting a full XPEL clear film with Modesta Coating on top.

I’ll be getting more pictures and posting impressions when it’s done.

One anecdote, my wife likes the subtle “white noise” of the air going into the intakes behind the passengers.

Mind if I ask how much it cost for the Xpel? I’m thinking of getting something to protect the paint on the Grand Sport, but haven’t decided on which method to go with.

He traded it in along with the Range Rover SVR. Sad to see both of those go but wow this machine looks incredible.

Full XPEL depends on the installer but expect somewhere between $4-5k for a full car. Another $1k if you do the coating, which keeps it looking just washed/waxed longer and is harder for dirt and water to stick to.

Yep, as Rico said, I’m probably buying a house soon and I needed to cut back on the number of cars (7) and we didn’t need two SUV’s with my wife’s ‘17 Q7 so I “mixed” the best aspects of the SVR and SLS with the R8.

Hood, front clip and front fenders should be sufficient, and roughly half the cost of the whole car, I’d guess.

Rocker panels and lower rear quarters are necessary, too, as they easily get nailed as much as the front clip and certainly more than the hood.
