I got a smoker off a neighbor from home because he had an extra. But I don’t know how to smoke meats, so I need to learn.

Lucky you! The rule of thumb is low and slow. Can’t tell if that box has some kind of thermometer or gauge but the one we have has a very bad too cold - good - too hot gauge so if your’s has that use it. Also it helps to add various kinds of chips to add flavor. Try a few different kinds and see what you like.
