This is a 2016 Chevy Sonic LS
When economy cars had funky patterns in their upholstery to convince “the youths” that the cars they could afford were fun and attractive?
Well carmakers are still doing that

The 2003+ Pontiac Sunfire is one of my favorites in this regard.

That interior hurts my eyes. And my feelings.

I don’t mind that one too much.

They hide stains better.

Let me guess, Mustang?

You know some idiot with this interior sold his “Camero” on Craigslist.

Not as blatant, but you could even get a “modern” patterned cloth in a MB W140 back in those days:

I like it.

He needed the money to restore his Galaxy and Baretta.

Yeah man we need to bring back awesome patterns. And all-red interiors would be nice too

Cool seat fabrics are a thing that humanity must keep doing. We must resist the urge to race to leather/MBTex/alcantara monochromatic boredom.
![]() 02/20/2017 at 21:19 |

You could stain it and it would just look like part of the pattern. That’s good design right there.

That is from the official brochure I can’t buy my first car but I could buy the brochure. Mine was blue on blue.

I fully concur with your statement about red interior:

Mercedes even got in on this in the late 90's:

I own a ‘90's car, and, um...
My economy car’s seats are plain black cloth and brutally uncomfortable now that they’re 21 years old.

I’m all about the winter camo interior that was on the Mitsubishi Space Gear Chamonix in the 90's
![]() 02/20/2017 at 23:44 |

That red interior is at least broken up. The later airbag equipped ones had a full red dash and wheel as well. Total overkill.

Looks like a camo tree stand....

Ahhh yes. Car makers are like the new kid trying to be cool in high school.
Except this kid is maybe a hundred years old and run by an army of people who’s average age is 50 years? lol
Today, stickers/decals and fake vents are all the craze among “the youth” - according to car makers.

I shall commit a blasphemy here, I HATED the all blue interior on my 90 Thunderbird, some accents would have been nice man! Swapped some of the blue interior panels with some black ones out of a super coupe.
On topic: I LOVE the plaid seats that you get on the golf GTI.

Woo! CE Lancer/Mirage! And the teal ones came with teal seats/door skins
