I still can’t wrap my head around how someone goes about drawing these cutaways to such an astounding level of detail and accuracy. I guess maybe nowadays they can use computers to toggle back and forth between bodywork and mechanicals, but that wasn’t always an option.

yes, nowadays the factory workshop manual illustrations just come from the CAD model, in a different “view.”

I found a site that lists several artists, but it doesn’t go into their technique. But I did manage to come across a pretty good old Jalopnik article about a guy named Yoshihiro Inomoto . Unfortunately, there’s a lot of dead links and missing pics.

That is awesome! I have a cutaway drawing of a Cougar. Time to print a copy and get to work! This is a great idea.

I have an issue with the accuracy of these cutaways. The Amazon preview has images of the Land Rover Series I-III, the MGB, and Triumph Spitfire, but none of them has the cutaway image showing the oil spot beneath them.
