My repair guy said it’s in impressive condition for being completely original, all the capacitors are good, even the usually problematic Dolby board is in fine shape. He just cleaned the 40 years of dust and gunk out of the insides, and cleaned the switches. It’s working perfectly now, I’m pretty pleased.

The Nikko that we were using in the meantime.

The Nikko is a great amp too, but doesn’t have the same power or quality of sound that the Sansui does. It’s not off by much, but it is a difference.

Cool. Good to see another vintage audio enthusiast here. I’m not using much of my old gear at the moment as I need to have some service done. There’s a Marantz 2240B that needs a new volume control (my original, the one my late father bought, was stolen by construction workers remodeling my folks house), a Dual 1219 turntable that needs a good service/cleaning, and a pair of Tannoy Orbitus-1 dual-concentric speakers that are currently hooked up to an older, but still awesome, Denon AVR-3200. Below are some pics of stuff currently on the rack:

Oh, and my original 2240 had the cool, optional wood case sleeve (walnut, I think - pretty cool part, but too expensive these days to replace).

That’s gorgeous, I’m sorry that the original was stolen, that’s really shitty

Good job! Few things are sweeter than true “High Fidelity”.
