Stumbled across this on YouTube, pretty old, but man, T-Pain has a really great voice! The whole NPR Tiny Desk Concert series is pretty cool in general-a lot of great little sets in there.

I remember seeing that video when it first came out. I was genuinely impressed by his voice. Makes you wonder why he always used autotune.

I was talking with a friend about this-I think the autotune was a business decision and it clearly worked out great for him. He came out around the same time as a lot of other R&B/pop artists; Usher, Chris Brown, Akon, R Kelly, etc. The autotune set him apart and made him unique. But I bet a part of him hated hiding behind it.

Blueman Group is hilarious. Run the Jewels is amazing. CHVRCHES are fantastic, as expected.

Some weird stuff too. NPR does a good job of being eclectic about their choices.

I actually haven’t watched the Blue Man Group one, I’ll have to check it out. John Legend was also great, but really, not surprise at all there. That man’s got a voice like velvet.
