2.0T making 246 hp and 271 hp. Limited-slip differential up front, 6 speed manual with active rev-matching and an available 8-speed dual clutch, adjustable dampers at every corner, a track mode and dual-stage stability controls. Now realize this is only Hot Hatch territory, not Hyper Hatch.

I’m just surprised Hyundai is actually going after the Focus ST. I knew GTI was the goal and that Civic Si was the “real” target, but that top trim is obviously trying to attack the FoST. Way to actually put in some real effort, Hyundai!

Too bad people will say “it’s still a terrible Hyundai”. With BMWs ex-M division director with them now it will be a beast.

Is this going to be coming to North America in some form?

...mechanical LSD up front?

TELL ME HOW MUCH IT COSTS

Probably not as a hatch but as a liftback sedan instead. Like a small, FWD Kia Stinger.

Will very likely be at the $25,000 mark for the GTI-fighting, 246 hp version. That R-spec version with the bump up to 271 hp will likely run $30,000.

Give it time. People don’t realize that Hyundai and Kia have been doing everything in pairs. They worked reliability and value from 2003-2009, design and technology from 2010 to 2016, and now they are hitting performance and dynamics from 2017 to 2025. I’m telling you all, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis are going to blindside the market with how quickly they can react and how self contained they are. Get on the hype train now because it’s about to start picking up momentum in a hurry.

I still much prefer liftbacks and hatches to sedans....more utility! More liftbacks need to make a comeback! :P

Besides power are there any performance differences between the two? I’d seriously consider buying this when it comes out, depending on me finances.

If it drives like a Hyundai, just get a Civic SI or GTI if you want LSD. Hyundai’s drive like dog shit, unless you love having absolutely no feel.

Have you ever had a dog? That stuff does not move unless you pick it up.

Definitely worth a test drive at that level. I’m also waiting to see if Honda will actually release any specs on the SI...

That’s what turning a Hyundai feels like.

No clue on all the changes yet but it probably mimics the GTI Autobahn changes and is quite a bit more Focus ST in terms of ride and handling rather than the GTI touring and premium focus.

You aren’t wrong or exaggerating at all! That’s why I’m excited for these completely new cars coming out where there are now people that actually care about putting money into the part of the car you use the most!!

I also see you left out “build quality” from your list of improvements from throughout the years. That’s a great observation. My FiST, which is realistically has the build quality of a $14k car, feels like a tank in comparison to my Mother’s $45k Azera. The rattles and squeaks are pathetically bad.

That sounds perfect. The only turn off for me with the ST is the brake activated torque-vectoring/LSD.

I’ll have to take your word on that one, you’re actually the first person I’ve heard compliment the Focus and reprimand the Azera. I believe you, I just haven’t experienced that.

I’m not complimenting the *Fiesta, the Azera is just that poorly bolted together. It’s made me stop complaining about my Fiesta.

You should do a write up on the Azera if you havent already. Especially if you’re REALLY passionate about it. That’s the type of experience that needs to be shared!

I will eventually.

Short Summary: Decent materials put together by drunken, blind toddlers with Elmer’s glue, suspension dampening by TRACKDAY BRO Johnny, sway bar tuning by Fat Elvis the Cadillac fanboy, and steering tuning by Chad, the asshole who couldn’t be bothered to adjust anything, so just turned assist up to 11. The engine was tuned by Billy Bob who thinks everything should roll coal, yes, the 3.3 GDI smokes black, and not just this one. That said, the engine propels the car quite quickly, but you’d never know, other than the squeaking getting louder.

I’m sure the performance will be ok, but build quality will be shit. But what do you expect for the money.
