The 0-60 time is hilarious. It *is* interesting, however, the extent to which it was a step up over the normal Chevette - the only question remains “why?”.

Why? I have no idea. I actually saw one of those a few months ago here in TX, with AK plates. That’s a long way to go in a T1000. I’m surprised there was any original sheet metal left.

I drove a “vette” in 78 while I worked the summer at GM. It was a car and not that bad. A lot of it was based on Opel hardware. It’s problem was currency exchange rate and resulting lack of investment. For those that laugh at the 0 - 60 time, remember that at the time 0 - 60 in 10 seconds was fast. I think the GTI was 10.5 seconds in the day.

0-60 in ten is fast. With the auto, as Motorweek tested, the number was more like 0-60 in
thirty.
