Nervousness pertaining to the lift is definitely in order. On something that clean it’s probably OK but you never know.

2wd XJ’s already exist. And pulling the tcase is more trouble than it’s worth, because you need to put a 2wd trans in, and you don’t really gain much in clearance for lowering until you remove the front axle and put in a very modified 2wd beam.
