I finished my hardtop refurb over the weekend. All new weather stripping and felt liner. Had a neighbor come and help me get it set on. I also rebuilt my heater control valve so I’ve now got HEAT!
As soon as the forecasted rain washes the salt off the road... look out.

My z will heat up through the firewall pretty good in the summer, I may put some sound insulation in there. I need to lube my heater switchest too now that I think of it.

Delete park bench bumpers! I am taking my side trim off my 240z and painting the front, did the back already. Fucking idiots in the 70s punching holes in the side for that crap.

Yeah, this picture is about a month old. I plan on getting Futofab black powder coated 240 bumpers.
What suspension are you running? I’m ditching the stock springs and it needed new shocks anyway.

Pha! The roadsters little 1600 wont heat into the cabin when it’s cold out. With the valve rebuilt though it does pretty nice.

Looks so good! Glad you got the smoothline(?) hard top and not the one with the port hole. That looks magnificent.

I did blow the hose coming out of the engine, luckily wasn’t one in the dash on the core. So I replaced everything with silicone. In a few weeks we will have done just about everything to the car. They are such simple cars but so many things pop up! I will post it when we get the front end done. Rebuilt engine, new 5 speed, disk brakes, suspension.... amazing we are nearing the end.... I might do a custom rally style dash insert and take out the radio since you can’t hear it anyway, resettable fuses etc.. maybe a secret start sequence.

I did get lowering springs, I think we got eibach made for a 240. Tokico shocks and I have rear disks from silvermine, has maxima rotors. With that and the enkei wheels, toyo tires, it’s a lot better!

I have about two fingers from tire to fender. The shocks and springs are made for it so it is so much better. I still have a vibration around 70mph, we are checking the shafts since the wheels checked out.

Thanks! It’s a Parrish Plastics(so old Smoothline) top that came with the car when I bought it.
I decided to go with red felt since they didn’t have a grey at the fabric store that matched the original. Plus, now it matches my interior.

Did you do a straight rebuild on the engine or spice it up a bit? I’m seriously considering sending mine to Datsun spirit. 5 speed from a ZX?

How’s the ride on the Eibachs? Harsh or firm enough but sporty? My suspension is flat worn out and rather cushy. The roadster is MUCH more firm.

I rebuilt it as it was, it’s the original matching engine so I didn’t want to do anything crazy. I have considered a cam. The 5 speed might be the first 5 speeds from a 260z, my friend got it so I’d have to check. The Eibachs are a little stiff but I don’t DD the car and it seems to be a good compromise, sporty but not impossible to live with. My car had cut springs on it when I got it, my friend who ownes a shop says the travel is a lot better at the same height and I can feel it. I have triple carbs and a large exhaust, that’s as much as I spiced it up. I will prpbably get a nice header at some point. I went to BRE for the rear spoiler and front spook air dam. Techno Toy Tuning has some good custom stuff like my strut braces.
