Seriously? I mean, I’m as dyed in the wool allegiant to In-N-Out as anyone, but that’s hard to believe because I refuse to eat BK, McD’s or Carl’s Jr.

Mmmmm.
My grandfather had one of these. Not sure, but I think it was his first car. 390, too. Again, I think.

A 390 63.5?!?? If I were you I’d be really upset that car wasn’t still in the family!

I can’t be. He’s more than made up for it with the Camaro and Chevelle. And that still leaves the Mustang and Grand National.

Haha, it’s OK. My uncle recently sent me pictures of the family cars in the early 70's. Alfa Romeo GTVs & a Giulietta, the Lancia, an MGA and ‘53 Caddy hearse that my dad had, a Triumph, a Fiat 124, V8 60's Thunderbirds... So much great stuff.

My dad’s had tons of cool trucks. And a ‘79 Camaro 350/4speed. And a ‘73 Firebird he put a 400 into.

I have 2. Both 63.5 fastbacks. Both 390s. One is a 2bbl automatic XL, the other is a bench seat 4bbl with a T10 four speed. The XL is ungodly rusty and I bought it as a parts car, the other I got as a project when I was 16 years old. It’s still in a million pieces. That was literally half a lifetime ago since I’m 32 now. It lives in a shed on my dad’s farm in Minnesota.

Neat car, but I see a bit of rust, and it might be a little tepid with that engine. I’d negotiate hard.

Man, I already told someone they were killin’ me, smalls, in this post. Now this? I can’t even respond. Sounds like your galaxies are like bmw 2002's for me, I’m not much older than you and have one whole one taken apart and a fair bit of a second just in parts. Someday I’ll have one together, but my lifelong enthusiasm for old Fords has been unindulged for too long and the sportsroof ‘63-65 galaxies are the ones for me.

It definitely would not be fast with the 289, and I saw that trunk rust so I wonder what else lurks. Still, these are not easy to find, let alone as drivers with all the trim, intact interiors and working AC. If I had the coin I’d offer 12 and see what happens.

The driver’s door looks a bit bubbly. From my experience (my dad was into old Fords, we had a 60, 66, 68 back in the 90s), there could be a bit of the same in the rockers, and the floors and trunk floor could have issues. Both bumpers also appear to need work. Based on the nice looking interior, I bet this is a lower mileage car that experienced longterm outside or carport storage. These are ~20K cars if really nice, I’d want to be in no more than your 12K even if the rust isn’t serious and it drives awesomely. The are cool looking cars.

I can chip in ‘bout tree-fiddy. I need to save my pennies for this 80's obsession of mine.

It sucks to say I’ve owned a Galaxie for 16 years and I’ve never driven it! Someday....

Are those the export market taillights?

No, but I assume they’re ‘85 only. My mom had a dark blue ‘84 coupe, and it had solid red taillights. I distinctly remember when I was a kid that there was another parent at the same preschool who had an identical Delta 88 to my Mom’s, the only difference being it had the half amber half red taillights like this one.
That’s how early I was locked into cars, at four years old I was noticing different taillights :)

That’s also like my 2002, I drove it to and from work once with a horrible rod knock right after I bought it, then took it apart. That was in about 2000, it’s been in project car purgatory ever since. Multiple moves, years in storage... now I finally have it in my own garage, but parenthood takes all my time and money now.

That’s more like my Studebaker... That’s another one I’ve had for... 13(?) years... It’s finally here in my own garage rather than in the same shed as the Galaxie. I drove it once- about 2 miles total. It runs and moves under its own power and has new brakes. To be a driver I really just need to install the new fuel pump (ethanol with eat the 60 year old pump for breakfast), clean the tank, rebuild the king pins, install new tires and cruise. But instead, it’s serving as a shelf in my garage.

So what you’re saying here is that even with a four door I made out like a bandit. I mean, I think that’s what you’re saying.

In not so many words, yes. Your car was an all-time deal by the look of it. I sent this one to a good Ford buddy of mine here who has the same ‘66 Mustang we bled on in high school (was a 200/auto, now a 302/T5) and a pair of Falcons (one a glorious beater wagon)(and a totally kickass old Dodge motorhome)(and loads of other great shit)(you’d like this guy), and whatever the text equivalent of foaming at the mouth and going into seizure is, that’s what he did.
