A small detail though: the 190E product code is... W201. Lord knows what was the one for the “shorty”.

That’s OK, just the way you put it could make people believe that was the code for the prototype.
I’ll try to look later for the original spy pictures. The one I remember most was the car turning very hard, I think actually on three wheels.
What I did not know and I found out today in the “ran when parked” feature (which I was looking at right when you were posting it!) was that Erich “Wax” Waxenberger was behind the project. Such a pity it was not green-lighted.
He was the lunatic who decided to put the 6.3 litre “600" V8 in the W109 body, so his little “Group B” Mercedes was surely going to be unconventional.
