In my opinion, props to them for keeping (some) of the cars as they where after they were retrieved. Better to acknowledge the past then try to sweep it under the rug.

They certainly make for more interesting display items this way. But really they didn’t have much choice, the ones that weren’t repaired were so far gone they wouldn’t really have been the same car after being repaired.

Part of the problem is that some of these are much too mangled to even try to fix. I do like how they have completely embraced what happened though. as you walk through the museum, before you enter the sky dome (or whatever it’s called) there is a section with multiple rooms with photographs and videos and even games for kids about the sinkhole. Really cool stuff.

This was the best thing that ever happened to this place. Many people visited the museum just because of this, they got a ton of publicity out of it. I visited the museum right after this happened and actually got to look down into the hole. I thought this and the mangled corvettes was the most interesting thing in the whole facility.

I visited a few years before. On a whim, actually. We were driving through down to Tennessee and had some spare time because I couldn’t sleep and just kept driving.

Stopped for breakfast across the street, and got there when they opened. Even not being a Corvette fan I thought it was a cool place to visit. Would recommend to ANY gear head.

Even more so now since the Massacre.
