TLDR: Short story about weaponized Lovecraft horrors/eldritch abominations that are unleashed during the Cold War. Shit hits the fan rather quickly.

I just ordered the book “Crooked” by Austin Grossman, which has a similar plot line, with the Cold War being a supernatural threat.
