It’s five spokes and six exposed lugs. General Motors does this a lot.

This GMT800 Suburban is in the shop today to replace factory leather with ours because it’s worn out.

Lots of Hiluxes, 4runners, and pre-99 Land Cruisers use a 6-lug pattern. Mine also has 5 spokes. It doesn’t bother me too badly- I’d prefer 5 spokes and 6 lugs over 5 lugs and 6 spokes.

You are not alone. Radial symmetry on wheels is a big one for me.

When I was trying to pick out wheels on my last car, I passed over a lot of 6 spoke designs because the car was 5 lug. Finally settled on the nice clean lines of the Gram Lights 57F.

6 spoke on a 4 lug is okay, but not ideal (aesthetically). 8 spoke looks better IMO.

The Audi S4 I owned many years ago was 6 spoke (5 lug), but there was a plastic center cap that covered the lugs. I could live with that.

At least one bolt should line up with one spoke. Give me at least a single line of symmetry...

This is the best pic I could find, but I put these wheels on my ‘01, and got a lot of compliments. They were just a generation newer, but I really liked the look.

I got them from a wheel shop that probably took them right off a new Tahoe or something that came it for 24" dubs and they sold these things, with near-new tires, for $800 total including shipping to my door. Cheaper than 4 new tires alone, PLUS I sold the old wheels and tires for about $250 on local CL for a net cost of $550.

I think the 5-spoke Miata wheels are worse. They’re even worse than those fox-body Mustangs that roll around on cheap fakey Cobra Rs.

Because someone on Mazda’s design team said “Yep. Don’t cover the lugs.” while the cheap fakey Cobra Rs are just someone who has bad taste doing something to his/her own car.
