So I realized it’s been awhile. Lots of work has been happening. I’m living in the house! If you haven’t seen the other updates, here’s the link. ...Kinja is being dumb again, so everything is just going to be in the image caption. Oh well.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Kinja'd!!!

Grouting the kitchen floor. Wasn’t scary at all. But I love the black grout now that it’s done.

Kinja'd!!!

Office with paint, but before window trim.

Kinja'd!!!

Guest room.

Kinja'd!!!

Facing the other way in guest room. These were two rooms, and we took down the wall betweem them.

Kinja'd!!!

Hallway, from the guest room looking out to the living room.

Kinja'd!!!

Living room.

Kinja'd!!!

Living room, with the front door. No one really uses it, the driveway and garage are on a different side of the house.

Kinja'd!!!

Fireplace in the breezeway that connects the garage to the house.

Kinja'd!!!

Totally done!

Kinja'd!!!

Almost done, there is now a microwave above the range.

Kinja'd!!!

Floor in the breezeway needed a layer of self-leveling cement to cover up the heating element. It’s the only source of the heat for the room. (I realize there’s a fireplace, I have no intention to use it...)

Kinja'd!!!

Tile going in... it’s still not done... sigh.

Kinja'd!!!

Scary bathroom before. Notice the slanted floor and slab to make the toilet level.

Kinja'd!!!

Walls torn out and fixtures gone.

Kinja'd!!!

Cleaned up. Next up is tearing out the floor. And then replacing the entire sewer and water lines out to the main city lines. The sewer lines are the clay tile from 1940 and are collapsed and full of tree roots. I’m also rearranging the bathroom so everything has to move anyways.

Kinja'd!!!

The bedroom walls have studs so we can have spray insulation done. Still need to do the living/tv room... and then the plumbing and electric...

The photos of the main floor are outdated, but still an update from my last post. The window trim, base board and quarter round has all been added and I hung curtains in all the rooms. I’m still trying to unpack and take final pictures. But instead I went to Daytona for the 24 Hour and now I have a cold.

I love your kitchen. LOVE. Totally adore it.

I’m curious about the heating in the breezeway - just radiant flooring? Long story on the heating in my house but I think the easiest way to heat it will be a freestanding gas stove, which should adequately warm every room except the laundry. Maybe that should be my solution.

The breezeway doesn’t really need to be warm, per say. You really are only in it going between the house and garage and basement. It’s not bad now that we replaced the windows and added insulation, so with the bit of heat from the floor it will be fine. Just enough to feel not freezing. The rest of the house has forced air heat so it’s solid.

Yeah, similar to the laundry room for me really. It used to be a porch so it’s separated from the rest of the house by an exterior wall but I need the pipes to not freeze without spending a fortune trying to heat it. I like this idea.

Looks great! I love the tile with the black grout and your kitchen is incredible. I really like the purple accent wall in the living room. I gotta have a splash of color here and there.

Wow, a ton of work but going so great! Black grout is the best invention ever. Also looks amazing.

I’m not a purple kind of person, but your use of it as a contrast to the greys and greens (I just really like that green with the blacks and whites) is quite lovely. Black grout is ingenious; I didn’t even know that was a thing.

Kitchen is lovely; I’ve lived and cooked in smaller, but after several years in my current house, I wonder if I’ve been spoiled by all the extra space. The exposed brick is a nice character touch that I’m sure someone will find fault with. (That that you’d care what someone else thinks anyways.)

Now I’m immensely curious as to how that bathroom is going to turn out.

I was measuring and using spray paint for hours today. I think I’ve decided that the toilet will be in a little closet, and the shower and sink are just going to be open. I just don’t have enough room for doors...

Oh hi. I turned the floor heat on now and it’s fantastic. The room is definitely warm and I have trouble luring the cats out of that room. They sit on a rug and look out the window all day.

Oh man I’m jealous! I decided to get it installed in my whole downstairs but naturally haven’t gotten to that project yet. Thanks for the review!

Thankfully it’s 70+ here right now but hopefully by January I can get started on that.
