If so, please share!

For me, I’ve exceeded my goals 2017 and hope to reap the financial and emotional benefits. I bought the nice car and have all maintenance up to date on it. I’m hoping to spend zero on it this year outside of gasoline and maybe some cosmetic bits.

But for 2018, I do have some aspirations:

- bumper protector/ clear 3M (damn doggo claws)

- clean up sticky dash the best I can

- diagnose the weakening brakes on the longbed

- adjust the carb on the longbed (exhaust smells like raw gas lately)

- pray for a improved automotive fortune with no major ($$$) unexpected repairs

But as always, the number one goal is to keep the longbed alive another year!

-Convince my dad and my grandmother to replace their cars.

-Since it will technically happen next week, get a bunch of stuff on the Saabaru fixed.

-Participate in a RallyCross.

-Drive a car made before 1970.

-Get the car club at my school off the ground

-Successfully start a new Cars&Coffee

My main goal is to get the TSX loan down to about $6000 by the end of the year. I’m in the 9’s, so it’s very possible. I’d also like to install the short shifter I bought for the TSX, to get the 3rd gen Prelude running again, and probably sell it. Money from that would either go towards the TSX loan or one of my other (non-automotive) goals. Maybe both.

For the Carmaro, finish the front end work with new springs and ball joints which will finish the major mechanical needs. Then I can start making it a little less ugly.

For the DD, just keep it on the road.

Get to working on the front end of the 4Runner. It needs tie rod ends, wheel bearings, and brakes up there. But before I do that, I have to do brakes on the FiST, and upgrade the tires to summers, since my driving style kills All Seasons just as quickly.

I plan on having the back window working on the 4Runner at some point in January, so it will work for the first time in 2 years. The part has been ordered, so some progress has been made.

Repairing a rust spot on the back left fender, new muffler and valve cover gasket, fix the trunk release so it opens, new badges, maybe some window tint.

Hah, it’s also one of the easier/cheaper swaps. ecotecmiata.ca makes a bad ass kit for $2k and you can get a complete junkyard motor with harness for under $900.

So for about $3k all in, I’ll nearly double the horsepower.

My 2018 automotive goals:

- Cosmetic stuff on the Twingo (new rims, DRL foglights some more gloss black trim bits)

- Cleaning the Twingo properly, the paint could do with a round of propper care, as can the interior

- Aquiring a project car, hopefully a DAF or something British, Italian or French.

Keep doing the basic maintenance on my Focus.... basically oil changes and it will also be due for a new set of spark plugs.

And I’d also like to upgrade the rear suspension to get rid of the wiggle.

And am gonna look for a good used Focus ST or SVT driver seat to replace the very worn base seat my Focus currently has.

I might also decide to replace the Crappy OEM stereo as well... maybe.

And if I’m feeling really adventurous, I’m gonna try my hand at making the e-brake work like it did when it was new.

So far, having had the Mustang GT for all of 9 months now, I’ve had it in 21 of the 48 contiguous states. Hopefully in 2018, I can knock out another dozen and a half - give or take a couple. Another “Cannonball” may or may not be in the works, too... :-D

My current list.

- Track day at Sebring, trying to do a new track a year...granted did three this year
- Track day at Summit Point with my Newphew for his high school graduation.
- Suspension on the Miata. Waiting for the coilover conversion parts to come back in stock from Koni.

- Get another seat for the Miata. Would like to use my Hans in my own car while on track. Its a nice $400 piece of safety gear.

- Try to win B Class in our Lemons Car....the old 1972 Dodge Coronet has been the best free lemons car ever. Got Barber in February on the schedule as well as a full 24 hour race at MSR Houston in November. 5pd swap looks to be fixed as well as some of the over heating so hopefully a win there.

- Do a timing belt, fix the evap leak on the SVT Focus and run it up in miles. Got the parts just want the Miata back from the paint shop so I can take it down for a day or two. Got it 6 months ago and have 11k miles on it already. Should see another 20k next year. Been a great daily driver. Who knows might even see the big 200k this year. Its only 27k away.

- Maybe somehow fix the Firebird....this will never happen as its pretty cursed. So maybe find another project and just steal the t-56 out of the turd. Some C4 Lt1 corvettes have been catching my eye. Tho an FC Rx-7 could be fun with a lsx swap. The V8 power bug is back but way down on the list of things I need. Who knows if anything will happen. All I know is I want to keep the t-56 out of the car more than I actually want to fix the car at this point.

This has become a pattern, but this year i want to make the Galant run like a normal car, and handle really good. So I can do some rallyX and a overlanding trip

Also I’d like to get a Mustang or Miata. Basically I just want to ad something RWD to my stable

Get the Raider to the point that I can just get in, pick a spot on a backroad map within a day, and drive there. That mostly just means replacing the stock auto front hubs with manual hubs, and getting my swaybar bracket welded, since they don’t exist anymore. The rest of it is buying gear to make me not one of those idiots that gets stranded offroad. Recovery straps, little shovel, first aid kit, gas cans, more tools, etc.....

I don’t know if it’ll be next year, but it’ll also get beefier, bigger tires, probably 31s, and go through the hassle of de-smogging it and replacing the stock carb with a Weber.
