Because while Americans are apparently crapping themselves over a tiny hatchback, Canadians can import something with a bit more style.

These are definitely a pleasure, not even really a guilty one. I saw one street parked in Prague last month, and just about fell over myself examining it:
I want to blame MB for the stupid rule, but at the same time, the beloved American authorities, through all of their hard work and ethics, let themselves be bought.

I mean, if you’ve got enough money, you can make anything happen in American politics.

that’s only “style” in the sense of what people were wearing in the 1970s.

The 1970s were the epitome of style, as long as you maintained your coke high.

And that’s effectively what happened.
It’s pretty wild to read later malaise era highline classifieds and see what was getting in with a relatively small amount of federalization.

I haven’t seen any, but it doesn’t surprise me.

the funny thing is? my parents got married in the ‘70s, and obv I was born then too. I see my folks’ wedding photos, and my dad has his hair down to his shoulders.
of course, when I was in high school and tried growing long-ish hair, he’d have none of it.
old people suck.

Two Americans are crapping themselves over a tiny hatchback. This one is looking at Japanese turbo straight-6 supercar killers.
Also, you guys get Verossas now. You can’t say that something that looks like Mitsuoka rejected for being too boring is stylish.

Early 80s issues of Autoweek have good classifieds, if I remember right.
Capitalist, oligocracy, same thing right?

I like living where I live and can see some of the oddball stuff that makes it over the border while it is still new. Today I was stuck behind one of these things on the way home from work:

Just wait until the beginning of the year is done, so we can start counting down the days until we can import the Avantime.

The coolest forbidden fruit that I’ve seen is a BMW 135i 5-door hatchback. I was gonna try to grab a photo of the Koleos, but that douchebag in an R35 GT-R who pulled a gun on me last time I took a photo of his car was also in traffic with us. He has a giant unpainted carbon fiber picnic table wing and red rims on it now. It’s gross.

Move to New Zealand instead. We can have anything RHD you like (JDM lyfe, yo), and anything LHD as long as it’s “sports, collectible, or niche market”.

Coolest minivan ever, and the only one I’d buy.
I still think that Clarkson, May and Hammond could have built that thing to lap the TG track nearly as fast as an Evo, or at least get a bit closer than they did.
Spend a big chunk of the budget on big power and a limited slip diff. Get a an aggressive but simple matched spring/shock combo, sticky tires on the stock wheels and limit the brake upgrades to just a good set of pads with slotted rotors. And of course, strip the shit out of the interior.

Agreed. Brake upgrades weren’t even necessary, as it’s just the one lap. I was hoping they would just slap a huge turbo on it, as Clarkson did with the Starion in the cheap RWD challenge.

Exactly. Only one heavy braking zone, so fade wouldn’t be an issue.
