Got this a couple days ago. I was supposed to receive this before Xmas but shit happened. One scramble to UPS later and here it is: NOMOS club campus 38mm California dial. Got a new strap incoming

Looks nice. Although I think it would look better if it only had arabic numerals instead of mixing them with roman ones.

That’s the point of a California dial: half Arabic and half Roman.

The short answer is no one knows why. Rolex and Panerai are generally acknowledged to be the origin of the dial. However, no one knows why it was called “California” dial. See this link:

Huh, the California dial has never been a favorite of mine, but that is a very clean watch.
